The Replication Program
The Boys Choir of Harlem is internationally
regarded as both a world class performing arts organization and a highly
effective model of alternative education. We have also been one of two New
York City schools to seek independent accreditation by the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Schools, only one of two New York City schools
to seek independent accreditation in NYC.
 The
Boys Choir of Harlem Inc. has received a three year grant from the Kellogg
Foundation for a program replication project as part of their National
African-American Males Collaboration to adapt our model and formally
document our program's successful educational paradigm -- philosophy,
methodology, implementation, and outcomes.
We are currently engaged in field work with four replication sites
including the Louisville
Boys Choir in Louisville, Kentucky; Young
Leadership Program in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Project
Hope in Commerce, Texas; and the Washington,
D.C. Boys Choir and are exploring replication possibilities in
Chicago, Detroit and Miami. We were also awarded one of only 28 NEA
Millennium grants nationally to assist in promoting national awareness of
the arts in developing youth, building communities, fostering tolerance
and promoting positive change.
